‘Volkstuinen’ (allotment garden) is a large uncommissioned project. The portraits are made throughout an entire season. The gardeners are all in the same society and are pictured on their own plot of land, which are side by side.
Every photo is taken with the same point of view. This brings out interesting differences, not just between the gardeners themselves, but also between the gardens as well as the different stages of the plot throughout the season.
The series is made with an analog medium format (6x6) Zenza Bronica camera with Fujifilm Sensia 120 positive film. I preferred to shoot analog over digital because it suits the project better.
